Settling In

On your child`s first visit to the nursery, staff will do their upmost to engage with your child so that they familiarise themselves.

During the initial few days you are allowed to stay with your child so that your child feels settled and you feel comfortable about leaving. During your initial visit you will be assigned a Key worker to provide support to yourself.

The role of the key worker is to plan for your child's individual care and learning requirements. Your Key worker will discuss with you, your childs current interests and what your child likes to do, so as to gain an accurate picture of your child.

You will be asked on how you wish your child to spend their time at nursery. If your child has attended or does attend other settings, your key carer will request for authorisation for arrangements to be made for your child development records to be transfered.

Parent Partnership

At Next Steps we welcome all parents as equal partners in all aspects of your child education and development; there is a two way flow of information knowledge and expertise. We request that when arriving and departing the setting, all children are to be registered in and out of the building.

Parents Involvement

We are dedicated to working in partnership with Parents/Carers to ensure we provide the best possible wrap around care for each individual child.

To achieve this aim we will:

  • Ensure you feel valued and welcome at all times.
  • We will provide opportunities for yourselves to hopefully be a volunteer.
  • We will share information and provide regular up-dates on your child's progress.
  • We will allocate time for yourselves to attend the setting to discuss your child's progress.
  • We will provide regular opportunities for you to discuss and have an input into your child's learning.
  • We will provide you with up-dates on changes in legislation.
